Imagination
Imagination is such a beautiful thing, don’t you agree? I believe that dreams, fantasies and day dreams are a part of imagination as well. Dreams are perhaps a subconscious form that may represent hidden, untold and suppressed desires as well as vision. Certainly dreams are much more complex and many scholars have given various explanations about them that I don’t want to go into right now. However imagination is at least one facet that dreams are made of.
I mentioned a quote from Einstein earlier: “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Why’s imagination so important? Look at any form of creativity, whether it is poetry, painting, work of literature, sculpting or any form of art. Besides a keen observation and a deep perception; imagination plays an integral role in all forms of art. Then look at everything around you, could anything have been invented without being first imagined by someone? God must have imagined heavens and earth before creating them. Look at all the natural beauty around us, there has to be a power or a creator who imagined all of this before it came into existence. There’s no way such an amazing masterpiece of natural art could have occurred by chance alone, or from a “big bang.”
I’m a physician, my profession does not really involve a work of art, but I think imagination is applicable everywhere. Sometimes we need to imagine ourselves in another person’s shoes to understand their perspective. This is an extremely hard thing to do, but the more you try it, the better you can get at it. I can often turn what I’m hearing into my own vicarious experience, so that I melt into it and become a part of it, this helps me in developing true empathy with my patients and other people around me. Probably, being a Pisces helps me in this regard, as Pisceans are some of the most imaginative and “dreamy” people you can find. May be you’ll get an idea from my future posts. So imagine something beautiful and let your dreams take you to a magnificent fantasy world tonight!
